WGSN is the worldwide leader in fashion trend forecasting so when they hold an awards ‘do’ to celebrate and recognise the industrys leaders, you attend. Particularly when it’s in the opulent setting of the V&A. So, a couple of weeks ago, I was thrilled to be a guest of one of the main sponsors of the event, Catrice Cosmetics – the German brand that is making waves with its low-budget but high-quality products. Myself and fellow beauty journalist Triona McCarthy were flown over to enjoy the spectacle, and enjoy we did! The people spotting was out of this world, we had to keep from gawking in a most un-cool way when we spotted Cat Deeley, Amber Le Bon, Leah Woods, Jodie Kidd The Telegraph’s style maven Hilary Alexander and Milliner Stephen Webster among many more. The Irish contingent, Laura Whitmore and Angela Scanlon, were both looking fashion-fine and represented us with style!

We were treated to a champagne reception followed by an amazing meal and the awards ceremony itself presented by Cat Deeley. Among the winners on the night were Nicholas Kirkwood, Acne, Erdem, Topshop and Net-A-Porter in the awards that celebrate both design and retail; the beginning and the end point of fashions’ journey.
