There’s nothing we like better than swooning over divine bridal gowns and the recent New York Bridal Fashion Week gave us the chance to do just that. In terms of trends for 2016, designers (the US ones at least) such as Vera Wang are all about delicate, sheer wedding gowns that sculpt and define the body. The designs are undoubtedly beautiful, but some may be way too revealing for a wedding, depending on your preference of course. Some are in two minds about these sheer creations. Some say no way and others say why not? It’s all about feeling happy, confident and beautiful on your big day regardless of your choice of gown.

The American wedding dress has become more and more revealing over the past few decades (crop tops were in at one point) and at this year’s Bridal Fashion Week in New York City, the trend toward bare skin went one step further with designers showing sheer wedding dresses. ?It’s more about the body now,? Vera Wang told the AP. ?What we’re trying to do more is really capture a certain sense of intimacy in body language.? There’s nothing new about revealing wedding gowns, of course, and we’ve seen a spate of similar barely-there gowns on the red carpet of late worn by Beyonc? and Kim Kardashian, which seem to have been recreated on the bridal runways.

If you’re looking to make this look work for you, the approach is to strategically cover up certain areas. “If you’re looking to make a statement up top but need a bit more coverage for certain relatives, or the church, etc., add-on pieces are plentiful and a lot more stylish than they used to be, said Anja Winikka, site director for the bridal world’s TheKnot.com.

Designer Monique Lhuillier’s advice to brides in need of a little modesty is to think tulle. “For a modern bride with a traditional ceremony, I would recommend a tulle wrap. It will keep her a bit more covered during the ceremony, but it’s sheer, so guests will still have a sense of the dress underneath, and it can be removed for the reception,” she said.

Backless or barely-there backs are also part of the new sexy in bridal. Winikka has a solution for that, too, if showing too much skin is a problem.

“Put on a long veil for the church to cover it up,” she said. “Veils can provide a lot of coverage.”

We have some of the most daring and beautiful looks for you to check out in our gallery above.

What are your thoughts on the sheer bridal gown trend? Yay or no way?
