Try Something New
Alternating your workouts is the best?way to beat boredom. Try a Boxercise (boxing plus exercise) class, €8 at Fitlinks Fitness (fitlinksfitness.com); a Piloxing class (Pilates, boxing and dance infused into one) €7-8 per class at Love 2 Dance (love2dance.ie); or for an extra sprinkling, try a pole dancing or aerial hoop class
at the Irish Pole Dancing Academy (irishpoledanceacademy.com). Star Wars fans can even try their hand at Lightsaber Combat with LudoSport Ireland, €12 per class. Find them on Facebook or email Ireland@ludosport.net. And may the force be with you.
Balance
The most neglected part of many exercise routines, balance work helps prevent falls as well as joint sprains and other injuries. Improve your balance by regularly practising a pose known as the Stork: Stand with your feet slightly apart and raise 1 leg off the ground while keeping your arms to your sides. Balance for 30 seconds. Switch legs. Practise daily and work your way up to two minutes.
Minus One
Improving eating habits is a lifelong process, not an overnight fix. Identify your least healthy regular meal, whether it’s a takeaway or a microwave ready meal, and ban it from rotation. It’s a small step that might not make a big difference alone, but will inspire you to make other healthier switches that could have a huge impact on your overall wellbeing.
