Dynasty Is Coming Back! 3 Things To Know About The Reboot

America has a thing for wealthy families full of beautiful people, so the news that the eighties cult TV series Dynasty is getting rebooted for our modern times comes as no surprise. But how many catfights will there be? Will we get the infamous character’swaps with a load of people getting pushed down ridiculously elaborate staircases? Cheesy music? Voiceovers? And most importantly, will we see Joan Collins?! Here’s what we know so far:

The Plot

According to Deadline, CW’s Dynasty reboot will offer a modern take on the feud between America’s two wealthiest families – theCarringtons and the Colbys, still at war; you’ll be happy to hear. The series was announced for the 2017-2018 season and will centre on Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) and her step-mother to be, Cristal (Nathalie Kelly) with a C, rather than a K. Wealthy, privileged people killing each other about things that have little relevance IRL sounds like gold TV to us TBH. There’s no word yet on whether Joan Collins’s Alexis?will return, but we’re crossing our fingers and saying a prayer.

The Casting Is Diverse

We may not see Linda Evans this time, but on, Cristal is now a Hispanic woman marrying into a wealthy family, as well as billionaire charmer Jeff Colby (John James in the ’80s series), played by Nigerian-born actor Sam Adegoke. Blake’s chauffeur, Michael Culhane, will be played by African-American ?Robert Christopher Riley, while Empire’s Rafael de la Fuente will also have a regular role.

It’s Made By A Team Who Know How To Make Great Bitchy TV

The series is being penned by modern drama hitmakers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, of?The O.C. and Gossip Girl. Just think of the drama and fashion to come. Though, it must be said that the Dynasty fights are legendary (a slap across the face meant, at times, certain death)?and Gossip Girl was tame in comparison. We hope they majorly up the catfight factor.
