Margaritas at 777

Maybe it’s because of the good weather or maybe it’s because we’re feeling reckless and flashy, but we’ve been consuming an immense amount of cocktails this summer. Previously having considered cocktails a bit of a tacky left-over from the celtic tiger, and having stuck strictly to G&T’s, we have to admit that the tide has decidedly turned and that cocktails are quite classy again.? So here’s a list of our 5 favourite cocktails as tasted by us over the last few weeks.

  • Bloody Mary – Coppinger Row This comes on a recommendation from our online editor who said she found them to be the most restorative hair of the dog manna-from-heaven concoction and that she’s devoted to them. She’s an expert, so we’re going to take her word for it.
  • Margaritas – 777 Ah frozen margaritas, how they remind us of our scorching summers in New York eating Mexican late and plentifully. 777 do a mean margarita, with just that right level of sour, sweetness and saltiness to refresh you whilst the tequila kicks you into gear for the rest of the night. Always have the right level of slushiness in them which is vital.
  • Man Hat – Damson Diner This is the last one we had and it blew our head off. Sipping in the seating area outside Damson is essential as the beats and the people watching enhance the experience. Rum, honey, lime juice and shaken with mint leaves, this is a mojito’s bigger, hairier and better older brother.
  • Whiskey Sour or whatever it is on the menu – Izakaya You will never have experienced something so lemony and yet so intensely creamy until you’ve tried one of these. They are wickedly good, and could be on a dessert menu almost.
