Booking is essential, simply log onto the Arnotts blog http://whatson.arnotts.ie/RSVP to book your seat.?We spoke to Clodagh McKenna about how to keep our diet in check this January after the Christmas binge, and what her favourite healthy food options are.

What super-foods do you think will be big this year?
Seaweed, it’s the most powerful food that we have on this planet. It contains all the minerals that our body needs and has the highest number of vitamins, minerals and trace elements of any other food group.

What do you rely on to eat when you’re on the go?
Vegetable juices, I love them. I make a batch every morning with spinach, cabbage, lemon, apple, celery and cucumber, and then I bottle them.

What foods are good to keep your immune system up over January??
I like to grate or thinly slice raw root vegetables and serve them lightly tossed in a vinaigrette. I think eating vegetables in season is good for your immune system. I also take a magnesium supplement and fish oils.

What lunch/dinner options would you recommend for people eating healthily in January?
Spices are a great metabolism booster, cayenne and turmeric especially. So I like to marinate chicken in these spices and serve with spiced quinoa and chickpeas. I also love make a Moroccan style chickpea soup. The Moroccan chicken dish on the menu in Clodagh’s Kitchen in Arnotts is popular with customers as a healthy option.

What’s your favourite comfort food to beat the January blues??
Chili, I make it with silver side or sirloin, cut into small chunks, pancetta, chorizo and some dark chocolate. (Check out the recipe here on Clodagh’s website here!)

What healthy snacks do you recommend for those trying to cut out sugary foods in January?
I eat an apple when I get a sugar craving or a piece of good quality dark chocolate.

What’s your favourite healthy breakfast option?
Smashed avocado with lime, mint, chili with a poached egg.

What should we eat more of this January?
Seaweed!

If you had to pick three items to snack on during the day that aren’t too bad for you, what would be your choice?
Good quality dark chocolate, almonds, and apples.
