4 great family-friendly events going on in Ireland this weekend

The weekend’s forecast is dismal again this weekend (what else is new?) but there’s plenty on for you and the kids to escape to

Saturday: National Library Open Day around the country

Libraries are an essential part of community life around Ireland, and this weekend is the perfect time to introduce your kids to the brilliant resources they hold. This weekend sees the country’s first ever National Library Day take place, to give patrons a taste of the workshops, classes, exhibitions and activities available at libraries, and staff will show visitors how to get the most out of their library.

Saturday: Engineering Our Future: Family Fun Day at NUI Galway

If you have any budding engineers in the house, bring them up to NUI Galway on Saturday to get them excited about a future in the world of engineering. NUI Galway is holding a family fun day with science and engineering shows, movie screening, workshops and hands-on activities that will inspire young (and older) people and help them learn about the world around us.  Tickets for some events can be pre-booked.

Sunday: Printfest for Engineer’s Week at the National Print Museum in Dublin

Another for Engineers’ Week, kids and adults can discover the history behind the traditional printing press at this dedicated day at the Irish Print Museum. Live demonstrations, Q+A and drop-in PrintLab workshops will all be available to visitors.

Sunday: Community Seed Exchange Day, Co.Clare

The Irish Seed Savers Association in Scariff, Co. Clare, invites families to come together and swap your seeds at their Community Seed Exchange Day on 1st March. Enjoy a walk through twenty acres of Organic Seed Gardens, Heritage Orchards and Native Woodland trails. With a feed from the Cob Pizza Oven waiting for you.
