10 Bridal Trends For 2016

Bridal runways rarely mix things up more than a few degrees, year on year, so wearing last-year’s style will certainly go unnoticed, the way a statement bag wouldn’t (hit those sample sales, ladies!). However, there are nuances, worth noting, if you wish to ride the very wave of bridal style. With that in mind, the collections for spring 2016 were shown at international bridal weeks, over the past few weeks, and we spotted one or ten new trends we very much like the look of…

The invisible bodice

It’s that is she/isn’t she effect that, until recently, only figure skaters could rock. A sheer bodice, embroidered or embellished, is at once sexy and demure – suggesting all that skin, but showing none.

Hayley Paige / Reem Acra / Mira Zwillinger

The only way for a formal-phobic to dress on her wedding day, a two piece can have all the extra-special a bride wants, without the usual super dressed-up vibe.

Elizabeth Fillmore / Sarah Seven / Mira Zwillinger

The layers

If a big, layered skirt doesnt make you feel like a princess (or that little lady who covers your granny’s loo roll), I’m not sure what would. If you’re going to go for it; then go for it.

Hayley Paige / Monique Lhuillier / Marchesa

The mini

Anything less than full-length is considered a mini, in bride-ville. Showing a bit of leg is especially gorgeous if your hitching in a hot clime… or doing something very chilled in your local brasserie.

Oscar de la Renta / Kelly Faetani / Rosa Clara

The satin sleekness

There’s nothing like the iridescent sheen of satin silk to accentuate your curves and have everyone wanting to touch you – as long as the new father-in-law doesnt get too tempted.

Amsale / Houghton / Kelly Faetanini

The waist ribbon

Ever since Cinderella did it (applied by bluebirds, remember?), a ribbon is every girl’s final fairytale touch – plus, it nips in the waist something fabulous.

Oscar de la Renta / Carolina Herrera / Rosa Clara

The embellishments

Beaded, appliqued, or embroidered – however the delicate little extras are applied, they’re guaranteed to make your dress a piece of art.

Angel Sanchez / Monique Lhuillier / Jenny Packham

The florals

Remember big floral prints from the 1980s? We’ll they’re back (only without the balloon sleeves, thank all that’s good).

Elizabeth Fillmore / Austin Scarlett / Mira Zwillinger

The sexy neckline

The chic key with a deep-V neckline (on your wedding day, or any other), is to keep cleavage un-boosted by bra or fillet.

Sharon Elle / Reem Acra / Angel Sanchez

The corset plus fluff

The structure of visible boning, plus the frippery of a feathered or ruffled skirt, is contrast at its most delicious.

Oscar de la Renta / Khan / Lazaro
