My day in beauty with Pamela Laird: ‘I apply lip balm ten times a day!’

Pamela Laird is one of Ireland’s most successful young entrepreneurs, having built her beauty brand around clever problem-solving products you never knew you needed. Here, she talks about her personal best of beauty…

“I am for sure a morning person and usually up and out the door by 6am,” says Pam.

“After the gym is when my skin routine starts, I always cleanse immediately after exercise as I find I can get breakouts if I don’t. I religiously apply lip balm I would say maybe ten times a day, I keep a lip scrub or the Egyptian Magic cream which I love, theres always one or two in my car and about five lip balms in my bag!”

“I generally just stick to foundation concealer and mascara day-to-day. At the moment I am loving adding in a glow primer under my make-up it feels more fresh and less cakey for day time. I am a religious user of dry shampoo even on freshly washed hair I feel it adds volume and brightens up my roots!”

Pamela’s skin picks:

Cleanser: MOXI Loves Barefaced Cleansing Pads followed by Nip Fab Glycolic Wash
Toner: Nip Fab Glycolic Pads
Moisturiser: Guinot Crème Hydra Beaute
Serum: Mario Badescu Herbal Hydrating Serum
Eye cream: Skinician Advanced Eye Repair
Mask: Glamglow Thirstymud
Hand cream: Chanel Le Crème Main
SPF: Guinot New White UV Shield SPF 50
Facial: Microneedling

“Glamglow Thirstymud is a product I buy over and over! It’s just like a drink of water for your
skin. I would always bring it with me for long haul flights. I also use it overnight as a sleep mask. I feel it instantly hydrates skin especially around the nose where I would be prone to dryness.”

Glamglow Thirstymud, €42

“I am obsessed with my new product from Moxi Loves, it saves me so much time in the morning and at night, the pads are so easy to use, a couple drops of water the cleanser is activated and ready! It’s the lazy girls answer to the dreaded nightly make-up removal.”

Moxi Loves Bare Faced Cleansing Pads, €3.95

Pamela’s top skincare tip?
“Take your make up off! I think this was instilled in me from a young age by my mum. It’s the one step your skin will thank you for! Oh and always keep your face out of the sun.”

Pamela’s make-up picks:

Foundation: Nars Sheer Glow
Primer: First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie
Mascara: Dior Overcurl
Liner: Note cosmetics
Palette/eyeshadow: Carter Beauty
Powder: SoSu yellow powder from contour set
Brushes: Nima Brush
Concealer: Nars Creamy Concealer
Brow products: Inglot

“I was never really into primers but I had seen Aimee Connolly use First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie and I was intrigued. It actually smells divine and I feel as I use a very lightweight moisturiser this just adds a glow to the top layer of my skin which I think makes the foundation look flawless and stops it sinking into my skin.”

First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie Primer, €24.95

Pamela’s top make-up tip?
“It’s all about good skin! Working on photoshoots has really shown me that most of the make-up artists really put effort into the prep and the make-up is only as good as the base so prepping the skin is key.”

Pamela’s hair picks:

Shampoo: Moroccan Oil Volume shampoo
Conditioner: Shu Uemura Urban Moisture
Mask: Garnier Ultimate Blends coconut milk
Hairspray: L’Oréal Elnett
Texture spray: Kevin Murphy Doo Over
Brushes: Tangle Teaser
Tools: Babyliss Pro
Dry shampoo: Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo in Blonde

“Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo is the absolute hero product for me! I have the oiliest hair of all time so dry shmpoo is always a must for me, this I find is so lightweight. It doesn’t feel chalky and has a blonde tint so covers any regrowth I have.”

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo in Light, €20.45

Pamela’s top hair tip?
“Section your hair! It makes it so much easier, to brush, dry, straighten or curl.”
