Founder of Lily O’Brien’s Mary Ann O’Brien, having recovered from a debilitating illness in the early 1990s, discovered her true passion for all things chocolate while recuperating on holiday in South Africa. Realising how much she enjoyed her newly found sweet adventure she honed her chocolate-making skills among world-class chefs and chocolatiers in both South Africa and Europe before starting her own mini chocolate enterprise from her Kildare kitchen in 1992.

With little more than determination, two saucepans, a wooden spoon, drive, passion and her then toddler and company namesake, Lily, acting as production manager, Lily O’Brien’s was born! Proud to be a long-standing Irish brand, founded on the ethos of creating amazing chocolate recipes, which incorporate both foody-inspired recipes and undeniable classics, Lily O’Brien’s continue to constantly push boundaries in pursuit of the finest quality and innovative products. Based in the heart of Co Kildare, Lily O’Brien’s chocolatier family has grown but the team are still passionate about chocolate.
