Around 1,500 bodies of Hamas militants found in Israel, as army ‘restores control’ of border
Around 1,500 bodies of Hamas militants have been found in Israel around the Gaza Strip, the army said this morning, as it pummelled the Palestinian enclave with air strikes. “Approximately 1,500 bodies of Hamas (fighters) were found in Israel around the Gaza Strip,” military spokesman Richard Hecht told reporters, adding that security forces had “more or less restored control over the border” with Gaza. “Since last night we know that no one came in .. but infiltrations can still happen.” The army had “nearly completed” evacuation of all the communities around the border, he added. Hecht said the military had deployed 35 battalions to the border area.

Tributes have been paid to a Co Antrim woman who died while on holiday in Spain over the weekend.
It’s understood Caroline Cromie, from Carrickfergus, passed away unexpectedly in Benidorm. The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust confirmed it is currently assisting Ms Cromie’s family in bringing her remains back to Northern Ireland.

Gaza ‘soon without fuel, medicine and food’ – Israel authorities
The Gaza Strip could be on the brink of a new humanitarian crisis if supplies are not allowed in, authorities say, as Israel responds to the Hamas attacks. On Monday, Israel declared a “complete siege” on the territory, saying electricity, food, fuel and water would be cut off. According to residents, aid has not reached the enclave since Saturday. BBC footage shows deserted streets covered with rubble from collapsed buildings following Israeli airstrikes. Nearly 700 people have died in these attacks and thousands more are reported to have been injured.

Myanmar: at least 30 people killed in attack on camp for displaced people
More than 30 people, including young children, have been killed in an attack on a camp for displaced people in Myanmar’s Kachin state, according to media reports and two local activists. Dozens more people were injured in the attack, which happened at about 11.30pm on Monday night in Kachin, Myanmar’s northernmost state, it was reported. Unverified images on social media, showed men carrying victims, including a small child, from the rubble in the darkness.
