The IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year Awards, on April 14th in Dublin’s Clayton Hotel, bring Ireland’s trailblazers, career professionals and new-comers together to celebrate and be inspired by the pinnacle of business leaders in Ireland.

Ireland’s president

Mary Robinson’s illustrious career is a compendium of impressive roles and positions. Most recognised as the first woman President of Ireland, and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Robinson is Chair of The Elders, an independent group of global leaders, founded in 2007 by Nelson Mandela, working for peace, justice, human rights and a sustainable planet.

Previous to her roles in leadership and advocacy, Mary Robinson served as the 24th, and first female, chancellor of the University of Dublin. She represented the university in the Seanad for over 20 years and held the Reid Chair in Law.

Mary Robinson is the eighth Irish woman to receive the IMAGE Lifetime Achievement Award and joins a stellar group, including Breege O’Donoghue, company director, Penneys/Primark; Voxpro co-founder Linda Kiely; former editor of the Sunday Independent (and IMAGE Magazine) Anne Harris; and former global president of Mars Food, multisales and global Customers, Fiona Dawson CBE.

‘League of her own’

Clodagh Edwards, CEO, IMAGE Media, says: “When it comes to trailblazers, Mary Robinson is in a league of her own. She has given women, and those who dare to speak up, representation at the highest echelons and has created a precedence for us all to aspire to. At IMAGE Media, the Lifetime Achievement Award is our most treasured accolade, and there is no one more deserving of this honour than Mrs Robinson.

“We really look forward to welcoming her and celebrating all her remarkable achievements on the night of April 14th.”

The IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year Awards, sponsored by Key Capital, DS Automobiles, Glenveagh, Kuehne+Nagel, and Ibec, and in association with Marks & Spencer, Circle Club, and istil 38, celebrates women in business across eleven categories, plus the overall IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year.

Now in its 15th year, the award ceremony recognises the outstanding contribution Irish women make to business and modern life across 11 categories.
