IMAGE Winter 2025 hits shelves Saturday, November 1, and managing editor Megan Burns is here to highlight the best of what’s inside the new issue.

If you’re anything like me, winter’s arrival immediately turns your thoughts to clothes that you’ve been waiting all year to wear. A frivolously fun, shaggy coat that would leave me sweating in temperatures over five degrees. Sumptuous velvet trousers that feel luxe and louche at the same time. Not to mention glitzy accessories that deserve their time to shine. Contributing fashion stylist Sinéad Keenan’s shoot perfectly captures this mood of opulent glamour – and makes you want to be invited to a party in a country house. Holly O’Neill has sourced everything from hair heroes to skin prep saviours. Suzie Coen also seeks out the perfect winter coat, and we take a peek into the Dún Laoghaire showroom of fashion favourite The Landskein.

But amongst the fun and the festivities, winter also offers us the opportunity to reflect on the year that’s passed. I’m not remotely interested in making New Year’s resolutions, but as the ever-wise Niamh Ennis notes, it’s only when we pause that we can realise just how much pressure we have piled onto ourselves. I’ll certainly be following her advice to take a lead from the season and slow down, while celebrating the best of the last 12 months.

Leonie Corcoran also reminds us of the power of speaking kindly to ourselves, and positive self-talk can be a powerful thing during a season when it’s easy to get caught up in chaos and comparison. While Ciara Elliott highlights the damage that excessive screen time can cause, and we’re talking about you, not your teenagers. Read her tips on how to engage more mindfully, and give yourself the tools to feel in control of your phone – not the other way around.

This issue is full of incredible stories, from founder of Hair Together Eileen McHugh’s journey from addiction to changing the lives of others, to content creator Siobhán McAuley’s moving exploration of her identity. She speaks poignantly about her South Asian and Irish identity, and raising her sons to embody the values of inclusion we all should strive for.

If you’re entertaining this season, interior designer Brian Woulfe is our inspiration – see inside his chic London pad (and admire his prowess with a cocktail shaker). While the team at The Coach House in Roundwood share some warming winter recipes to try at home. If you’re stuck for gift ideas we’ve found Irish stays that will appeal to different people in your life, from art enthusiasts to avid gardeners. Or if you’re planning a trip for yourself, don’t miss Jo Linehan’s insider’s guide to New York, and take notes on where to get the best bagels, as well as what museums the locals are frequenting. And Lizzie Gore-Grimes recommends an under-the-radar ski resort that will envelop you in its special atmosphere.

Whatever you have planned for the season ahead, I hope you find inspiration in these pages.
