Ahead of Coldplay's four-night concert run at Croke Park, the band's lead singer Chris Martin decided to enjoy the sights and scenes of Dublin's fair city, treating fans to some very special appearances. Here is everything he's been up to.
A Dun Laoghaire dalliance
On the first of his Dublin excursions, Chris Martin enjoyed the Irish Sea coastline ahead of the band’s Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday gigs at Croke Park as part of their Music of the Spheres tour.
A video posted on Coldplay’s Instagram account features the lead singer relaxing with a local busker named Gerry.
The clip also shows Martin strolling along the pier in Dún Laoghaire, accompanied by the caption: ‘So happy to be in Dublin. Pleasure to meet you, Gerry.’
The Gerry in question is also the brother of Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan.

Grafton Street grafter
For his second haunt of the day, Martin chose to traverse down Grafton Street, which is home to many of Dublin’s finest buskers and musical talents.
A large crowd started to gather on the busy shopping street earlier in the evening as rumours circulated that a special appearance might be happening.
Chris Martin was joined by Nigerian singer Burna Boy, Argentine artist Tini, Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna, and English rapper Little Simz, all of whom are featured on Coldplay’s new single, ‘We Pray.’
The group performed the song five times before leaving, while a strong Garda presence and a video crew were on-site to film the event. The footage is expected to be used for the song’s music video.
“Thank you for listening to the same song five times and see you tomorrow,” Martin told the crowd following the surprise appearance.

However, one of the strangest elements of his arrival was the fact the singer was barefoot throughout. This, we believe, is not the smartest of moves on the city’s streets.
Tickets for all four nights at GAA headquarters sold out within an hour of becoming available last year. The band hasn’t played in Ireland since 2017.
The gates to Croke Park will open at 5 pm and promoters MCD advise attendees to arrive at least 45 minutes before the concert begins.
Aby Coulibaly is scheduled to take the stage at 6:30 pm, followed by Maggie Rogers at 7:15 pm, Coldplay is set to perform at 8:30 pm, with their set expected to last two hours.
