5 simple pieces perfect for easy summer dressing

5 simple pieces perfect for easy summer dressing

Hot weather is not compatible with complicated outfits. What women want and need are simple, but stylish pieces that they can throw on, with no fuss, and then go. To make summer dressing a breeze, invest in each of these five chic throw-ons. They’re perfect for work and play.

A Plain Jumpsuit

Sleeveless jumpsuit, €39.99 at H&M

A simple neutral one-piece is a no brainer at this time of year. This black H&M jumpsuit is the easiest item to accessorise as there’s no print or vibrant colour to negotiate. It’s understated and unfussy so it makes dressing on warm weather mornings a stress-free affair.

A Midi Dress

Striped midi dress, €19.95 at Zara

Again, a simple one-piece is a really easy way to dress in summer. Even if you don’t like to show your legs, a midi (or maxi) provides enough coverage that you can dress and go without having to fuss over fake tan. The ruching on this Zara dress creates the illusion of a neat waistline, while the thin diagonal stripes will help to elongate your silhouette.

Palazzo Pants

Printed trousers, €25.95 at Mango

They’re chic, totally comfortable and can be smartened up for work with a white shirt, or worn at weekends with a T-shirt and trainers. Plus, they’re fluid so great to wear when it gets very humid in the city.

A Pleated Skirt

Red pleated skirt, €49.95 at Mango

My wardrobe is stocked full of pleated midi skirts in different colours. They’ve become my new staple as they work for every occasion and they look equally good with trainers as they do with heels. The prettiness of the pleated detailing also means that you can keep it really simple on top without feeling unfeminine or underdressed. A simple cotton silk T-shirt will look stunning with a pleated skirt.

A Great T-shirt

Silver T-shirt, €35 at finerylondon.com

Online retailer Finery London offers T-shirts that hang beautifully and wash well… that’s the dream. I like this shade of silver as an alternative to white or black. It will look a little fresher, especially paired with prints.
