Søstrene Grene’s new Hygge-inspired interiors collection is everything we want for January

Søstrene Grene’s new Hygge-inspired interiors collection is everything we want for January

Søstrene Grene are our go-to for fresh interior inspiration, and their warming new collection is inspired by all things Hygge

The Danish concept of ‘Hygge’ is truly something we love to emulate in these winter months. Defined as a mood of cosiness, contentment, and wellness within the home, Hygge is more a state of being than a trend, but nevertheless, it has proven to be the inspiration behind much of our favourite winter interior design collections.

You may be familiar with Danish interiors lifestyle brand Søstrene Grene — their shops filled with greenery, stationary and DIY homewares are a haven for the craft lovers among us. Being Danish, they obviously have a preoccupation with the concept of Hygge, but are throwing themselves fully into it for 2020 with their latest collection.

Natural materials, muted colours, soft lighting and warm textures are all cornerstones of the collection — think of a space you’d love to escape from January weather in, and you have the idea. Paper lamps and cotton and linen furnishings all add to the soft-focus aesthetic of the collection, but what we really like is the addition of the DIY element, as is the style in Søstrene Grene throughout.

Hygge is not all about the surroundings – what you do within them is what really brings the concept to life. With this in mind, Søstrene Grene’s collection also features pieces like knitting kits, board games, and notebooks, which, as well as looking the part in the Hygge-themed interiors, also provide an opportunity for relaxation.

The collection will be available in stores around the country from January 30, including Dublin city centre, Dun Laoghaire, Blanchardstown, Cork, Limerick, Belfast, Newry and Bangor.

Here are some of our favourite pieces that we can’t wait to stock up on
