Join a huge virtual swap shop and refresh your wardrobe in a sustainable way

Sharing is caring and the Fashion Revolution online swap shop will help you show both your wardrobe and the world some love this Earth Day.

More and more people have been boycotting fast fashion in recent years, turning their attention to the pre-loved gems already on the market. However, with charity shops – our usual havens for second hand and vintage finds – still closed, we’ve had to source our finds elsewhere. Instagram has been our treasure trove of choice lately thanks to a select few accounts, each of which have us setting multiple reminders and watching the clock tick down to their weekly drops.

Here to provide us with another alternative this week, Nuw Fashion has joined forces with the Irish Fashion Revolution team to organise a huge online swap shop. A great way to purge your closet of all the things you no longer wear, while still finding some new, or at least new-to-you, replacements. The event is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening from 6pm to 10pm over on the Nuw app.

Organised as part of Fashion Revolution Week, which is running sustainable fashion events and talks all this week until Sunday, April 25, the swap is open to all Nuw users, with all of the clothes curated from sustainably conscious brands, influencers and the Nuw team themselves.

Also planning a special talk surrounding the virtual event, a panel discussion will take place via Instagram live at 7pm. Chatting through the story behind some of our favourite pieces, the panel will also offer advice on how to make our clothes last longer.

Enlisting the help of a number of industry experts for the week, including Taz and Geraldine of The Useless Project as well as Irish designer Aoife McNamara, they’ll feature on the Nuw social channels throughout the week, where they’ll chat through some of the issues facing the fashion world today. Covering topics such as the Pay Up Campaign, they’ll also answer user questions on what’s in our clothes, and more importantly, who made them.

Interested in taking part? Simply sign up over on the event page here, upload the bits you want to swap onto the app and then log on at 6pm tomorrow evening. Each piece of clothing you list will give you a token which you can then use to swap for something else. One token equals one swap, so the more tokens you have, the more swapping you can do!
