These are 5 of the biggest wedding dress trends for 2020

Are you getting married this year? Here are five of the biggest wedding dress trends for the months ahead

For any brides, the dress is of significant importance.

Many say the moment you find the dress and put it on, is the moment you truly feel like a bride.

Like ready-to-wear fashion, bridalwear goes through the same change in seasonal trends whether that be shapes, lace, or even colour.

We are taking a look at five of the biggest wedding dress trends that are appearing in 2020 which may provide you with some inspiration for your own wedding day.

Low backs

Vera Wang

Not for the faint-hearted, but this trend can look truly elegant when done right. From naked styles to cowl-backs, to keyhole, there’s a myriad of ways to try the trend which has been seen everywhere from Vera Wang to Laure de Sagazan.

Puff sleeves

Monique Lhuillier

It seems our love of volume has transferred from our daywear to bridal too. Puff sleeves were big news for AW19 and 2020 is showing no sign of a reprieve. Off-the-shoulder puff sleeve dresses are a wedding style you may not have thought of before, but the twist makes for a welcome change when it comes to traditional bridal fashion.

Linger bodice

Lihi Hod

Underwear as outerwear isn’t a new concept and it was only a matter of time before bridal designers took note. It’s a sensual look without being overtly sexy. Designer Lihi Hod does it particularly well and we especially love the ‘Sunny’ dress with its off-the-shoulder sleeves and floral lace motif.

Feathers

Inbal Dror

This trend might not be for everyone, but if you choose to wear feathers on your big day you can be sure in the knowledge that you are making a serious fashion statement. Feathers appeared as full dresses and skirts, to trimming along the edges of gowns.

Leg slits

Galia Lahav
Alessandra Rich
Eisen Stein

Following Angelina Jolie’s now infamous ‘right leg’ moment at the 2012 Oscars, thigh-high slits became a common component of evenings gowns and dresses alike. This year bridal designers such as Alessandra Rich and Victor & Rolf have taken the plunge and created dresses which are classic but contain an element of risk which is hard to find in the world of wedding gowns. This is the type of gown that is sure to make an impact.
