Longline wool blazers, statement-making pieces with faux shearling trims, colourful furs and practical rain jackets — the staffers are covering all bases with their winter coat picks.

I love the idea of snuggling up in this burgundy beaut from Essential Antwerp; and this investment piece from Kindred of Ireland is stunning and crafted with only the best in Irish tweed and thoughtful design.
I nabbed a coat from The Landskein in a sample sale a couple of years ago and it still feels special putting it on each winter. This chestnut brown coat would be my pick. One coat I really need to update for winter cycling is a raincoat. This RAINS raincoat is both practical and chic.

This season, I’ve been wearing brown like it’s nobody’s business. In a twisted turn of events, brown was the colour of my secondary school uniform and I swore I’d never wear it again, but an all brown outfit has unlocked some sartorial piece of me that was long dormant. I’ve always wanted a Frankie Shop coat. They are ridiculously expensive but I love the drama of the silhouette, from the exaggerated shoulders to the utterly unsuitable long length. But sometimes, you have to go big or go home in fashion and hopefully, this winter, I’ll be doing just that in the Jane Long Coat from the brand.

I am a big believer in investing in a few key winter accessories to elevate any outfit. Nothing beats a statement coat and a pair of hard-working winter boots. Last year I saved up for a Charlotte Simone long leopard winter coat and have absolutely lived in it ever since. Knowing I will definitely get my cost-per-wear out of it, I was ready and waiting for her latest October Winter drop. Each piece is one of a limited, numbered run and released only twice a year, so they sell out fast. I was thrilled to get my hands on a gorgeous short grey/brown ‘The Olive’ jacket, lined with faux shearling and Mongolian trims, adding instant drama to any outfit. Winter wardrobe officially sorted!

I welcome in the colder months with open arms because it gives me good reason to wear the most amazing chocolate brown suede coat that used to belong to my grandmother. It’s lined with faux fur and does the essential task of keeping me nice and cosy, but also fulfills a much greater purpose of making me look and feel expensive and borderline snobbish. I start subconsciously pursuing my lips like Miranda Priestly and answering my phone like Hyacinth Bucket.
This year I feel obliged to replace my years-old longline wool coat from Zara, mostly because it’s so extremely covered in dog hair I can barely see it any more. I have my eye on this 1970s Jaeger wool pea coat from Sister Vintage in Kinsale. Preloved, timeless and top tier quality — yes please.

I’ve loved The Landskein since the designer Anna Guerin first brought a modern edge to Irish wool and tweed outerwear, reworking traditional fabrics into something quietly luxurious and contemporary. I’ve featured her beautiful coats in many editorial shoots, always drawn to their impeccable cut and silhouettes, and the timeless appeal. So it feels extra special to finally have one of my own, an olive green herringbone tweed that’s elegant, versatile and super stylish. It’s a forever coat I know I’ll be reaching for every winter.

Every year when winter rolls around, I look forward to getting my shearling jacket from AllSaints out of the wardrobe. It’s a really oversized biker, similar to this one, except the fluffy side is on the outside. I bought it at an amazing discount around ten years ago in a sale, and even so it felt like an unbelievable amount of money to spend at the time, but it’s still going strong, and it looks just as good now as it did then. It’s also one of the warmest coats I own, so warm in fact that I can really only wear it on very cold days, but I love it nonetheless.
I also have a gorgeous oversized grey tweed coat from Magee 1866 that I can’t wait to wear once it’s cold enough, and it makes even a really basic outfit look instantly more put-together.

My favourite things in my wardrobe are my jackets! A good jacket can really change the whole outfit and I love investing in them. This year, I have been saving up for a Charlotte Simone jacket and I purchased the Joni Jacket in her latest drop and I absolutely adore it. Can’t wait to show up to the function in my new party piece!
I really want to invest in a good rain jacket too and have my eye on some fun ones from RAINS. Irish weather is ever-changing and you must always prepare for rainy weather.

Ever since last week when the realisation came that the cold has truly set in, all that has been on my mind is getting a good fur jacket. The Big Smoke Vintage in Temple Bar has the most gorgeous vintage fur coats. I was so torn on whether to buy one last year but as we were going to NYC that Christmas, my purchases were kept to a minimum! This year, however…
I had my notifications on for the final drop this year from Charlotte Simone. Some of the girls in the office have the most beautiful coats, this green fur and pink jacket were screaming my name (as you can tell, I adore a bit of colour). This Topshop green fur has also been constantly on my mindfor the last month!

I alternate between two coats coming into the winter. For nights out, dinners, drinks and general Christmas socialising, I gravitate towards my Black Relaxed Alpaca Blend Coat from & Other Stories (similar to their Voluminous Belted Wool Coat). I love to pair it with knee-high boots and a silk scarf.
Last year, I really wanted to add a short, quilted, casual jacket to the rotation and absolutely love my Carhartt W’ Skyler Liner in black. It’s perfect for more casual days out and winter walks.

I’ve had my eye on this gorgeous plaid coat from Choice Boutique recently. Aptly deemed a ‘coatigan’, it’s perfect for layering over thick woolly jumpers and pairing with a cosy scarf. Its classic check pattern is a great way to break up all the black I wear this time of year as well. Then, for when we hit the chillier winter months, I’d love to snag this black faux shearling trench coat from River Island. It comes in a petite size, so I don’t have to worry about that oversized childish effect most trenches give me. It’s the ideal mix of comfy and chic!

I typically go for fashion over functionality when choosing a winter coat. A good hood is usually an afterthought. Warm, but not necessarily waterproof, and I’ve grown tired of getting soaked in an unexpected shower. I recently invested in a RAINS windbreaker, which ticks all my boxes. Stylish, waterproof and has a hood. For the colder months, I have my eye on this puffer, also from RAINS, though I am holding off in the hopes of putting off the winter!
I still dream of the Barbour X Ganni collaboration, and still wish I had invested when I had the chance. Now, my TikTok and Instagram feeds are filled with the beautiful Barbour X FARM Rio collaboration. I mean… need I say more about this beautiful jacket?

I love a wool coat and a chunky scarf combo, so when I spotted this gorgeous number on H&M, I fell in love! I love the checked pattern but it is still a ‘neutral’ in my eyes, so it will go with every autumn/winter outfit I have in my wardrobe! It can be thrown on over an LBD during party season or paired with a soft knit and jeans for a more casual look. The best of both worlds!
