Stylist Fiona Doyle on her favourite fashion finds

From her does-it-all coat, to her wear-everywhere handbag, here are Fiona Doyle’s favourite fashion finds.

An internationally accredited personal stylist, Fiona Doyle has trained in renowned fashion capitals of the world, and incorporates all her learnings and natural born skill into providing professional critique and advice on personal style and self-image, as well as wardrobe and colour analysis.

For over two decades now, Fiona has been making massive contributions to the style industry at home and abroad by organising fashion shows, styling mainstream models and photoshoots, working as Head Stylist for luxury event companies and being a key note speaker for corporate events, offering advice on self image, personal style and the positive effects of wearing colour.

Here, we get an exclusive glimpse into her enviable wardrobe.

How would you describe your personal style?

If I were to choose three words to describe my personal style, I would say it’s chic, comfortable (as comfort is paramount to me), and bold. I love colour, particularly bright colours (which suit me better than more muted shades), and always strive to incorporate something unique or edgy into my outfits, whether it’s through accessories or prints.

As a personal stylist, my mission is to help my clients uncover their own personal style. Understanding your individual style makes shopping easier and reduces the tendency to buy based on others’ opinions. Instead, you can focus on selecting clothes that align with your lifestyle, body shape, and colouring. When I go shopping, I always keep my style personality in mind, seeking out chic, bold, and comfortable pieces that resonate with me.

I definitely believe clothes serve as a powerful expression of our personality. We can communicate so much through our personal style.

The go-to shoe/trainers?

Definitely Veja. Throughout my style training journey, I have developed a heightened awareness of the impact of fast fashion. I discovered the Veja brand before lockdown and love what it represents – transparency, fair trade and using organic materials.

I find Veja’s runners to be a perfect blend of comfort, chicness, and versatility. When selecting a pair, I like to choose those with a splash of colour, such as an orange V, as it adds a vibrant pop to outfits.

The does-it-all coat?

It has to be my Ilse Jacobsen jacket(s)! I have one in Cobalt blue and another in Pink. This jacket is perfect for the unpredictable Irish climate, whether it’s raining, windy or chilly. As someone who walks a lot, this jacket proves to be the perfect companion, providing both protection and style.

When the summer months roll around, I find myself gravitating towards a classic denim jacket. It’s versatile and effortlessly complements a variety of outfits.

As winter arrives, my go-to choice is a warm puffa jacket in a neutral shade.

The perfect jeans?

When it comes to jeans, my go-to choice is Blair – Citizens For All Mankind. Their dark denim, mid-rise jeans have become a staple in my wardrobe because they’re comfortable and I love the fit and style.

The fit of a pair of jeans is crucial to how confident and comfortable you feel while wearing them. The shape of the leg gives you different types of fits, whether it’s skinny, slim fit, loose, boot cut, or regular. My favourite jeans, that effortlessly transition from day to night, are a slim fit leg. However, I’m also thrilled to see that boot cut jeans are back in fashion.

The must-have knitwear?

There’s nothing quite like the luxurious feel of a cashmere sweater or a cozy wool blend to keep me warm and stylish in the colder months.

During late spring, a Breton jumper is the perfect transitional piece and perfect for day to day wear.

Come mid-summer, you’ll often find me sporting a hoodie. I have a couple of bright shades from Superdry.

The everyday jewellery?

One of my most cherished pieces of everyday jewellery is a fine gold necklace designed and created by Emily MacKeogh of Roxluna. Collaborating with Emily, we designed a beautiful chain that holds significant meaning for me. It features the hand of Fatima, a mini disc with a heart, and a slightly larger disc with angel wings.

I also wear either my fine gold earrings from Stella and Dot or teal and gold drop earrings from Angela Darcy Jewellery. Of course, I can’t forget to mention my engagement ring!

The wear-everywhere handbag?

A black cross over bag by Michael Kors. I also have a lovely tan coloured Luella Grey bag that I use day to day at this time of the year.

The Sunday cosy casual look?

After a busy week of personal style and colour consultations as well as running corporate style workshops, Sundays are definitely a day for cosy casual vibes. You’ll typically find me in combat trousers, a light blue shirt and breton striped jumper look – worn with my Vejas.

The ultimate pyjamas?

Victoria Secrets – my sister bought me a set for Christmas. I just love them. They are so comfortable yet chic. I have the pink iconic satin stripe pyjamas set. I also have the cozy flannel plaid set.

The party look essential?

When it comes to party looks, I love dresses… or a playsuit! There’s something about slipping into a stylish dress or a playful playsuit that instantly elevates the mood.

For a classic yet striking party look, I adore a simple black dress paired with fabulous earrings and statement shoes. I enjoy adding a pop of colour through accessories.

Another party look that never fails to impress is a combination of leather skinny trousers, a cami top, a tailored blazer, heels, and carefully chosen accessories. This edgier ensemble exudes confidence and style.

The most treasured piece?

Definitely my engagement ring

The wishlist item?

A Chanel crossbody bag – a girl can dream! Definitely a great investment piece.

The vintage shop to know?

I do love a good Vintage shop. I enjoy visiting the vintage shops in Temple bar. In my late teens, I bought all my clothes in The Edge or Modesty in Limerick. When my sisters moved to London, I loved visiting the vintage shops nearby.
