Real Weddings: Iyobosa and Sam tie the knot at the National Gallery of Ireland

Real Weddings: Iyobosa and Sam tie the knot at the National Gallery of Ireland

After meeting at a bus stop in Nigeria, Iyobosa and Sam fell head over heels, gratefully crediting divine intervention. The happy couple recently celebrated their wedding at a unique Dublin venue – the National Gallery of Ireland.

Iyobosa, financial accountant, and Samuel, cybersecurity analyst.

THE VENUE

THEY MET
At the Obalende Bus stop in Lagos, Nigeria.

THE PROPOSAL
It was a cold night in October, and after I [Sam] had done my usual prayers regarding the next steps for our relationship, I heard a voice resonate in the depths of my being. It was a gentle yet powerful voice, saying “December and April” and I knew instantly that it was the voice of God and I knew what that meant immediately.

With the help of Iyobosa’s sister, Anthonia, we planned a dream-like proposal at their home on December 16, 2022. The dining and living area was transformed into a breathtaking setting with candlelights and flowers, and our family and friends connected via Zoom.

When we arrived, I expressed my deep love and gratitude. Overwhelmed with emotion, I knelt and presented the ring, asking Iyobosa to marry me. Tears of joy flowed as she accepted, and it felt as if the heavens rejoiced.

We realise our love is blessed by divine intervention, guided by God’s voice and with friends’ support, we celebrated knowing someone greater orchestrated our journey. With love, faith and gratitude, we embraced our future together, cherishing the special proposal that united our hearts.

THE WEDDING ATTIRE
Iyobosa’s dress is from JJ’s House and my suit is from Moss Bros.

THE CEREMONY
The ceremony was in the gorgeous Lavery Room, part of the Georgian rooms in No. 5 at the National Gallery. In terms of rituals, we prayed and read the Bible together. The Pastor preached about building marriage with Christ as the foundation and the importance of doing marriage by the strength of God.

THE RECEPTION
Afterwards, we had the reception and dinner in the beautiful Clarke and Purser Rooms – also part of the Georgian rooms.

THE ENTERTAINMENT
Our DJ was a friend actually, her handle is @lami.na. She’s not a professional or anything, but she did an amazing job at the wedding!

THEIR TOP TIPS
Enjoy every moment of the planning. It’s once in a lifetime, and it’s your wedding. Focus on each other.

THEY WISH THEY HAD…
Honestly, we had all we needed. We were particularly glad that our parents could make it from Nigeria.

THEIR BEST MOMENTS
Our favourite moment was the recitation of vows. They are words we’ll live by and remember for the rest of our lives.

THEIR FIRST DANCE SONG
Bad Dancer by Johnny Drill.
