Joe O’Reilly: A week in my wardrobe

by Edaein OConnell

Joe O’Reilly has worked in luxury fashion in London across a range of leading brands. His style reflects his personality and interests, with a focus on investing in key, timeless pieces that can be worn repeatedly. He is particularly drawn to Simone Rocha, and has a strong interest in attending fashion shows, exhibitions and theatre. Here is a week in his wardrobe.

MONDAY

During the week, I dress up more so I can go from work to dinners, events or theatre. This jacket and slippers are from the Simone Rocha AW23 collection, which is one of my favourite collections. When I’m wearing all black, I like to add shape and texture to bring dimension to the look. The bag is the Simone Rocha Pearl Bag, which is like a piece of art. The sunglasses are Ray Ban.

TUESDAY

When I don’t know what to wear, this is my go-to jacket, and it’s Simone Rocha. The rose is part of the jacket, and you can remove it; it’s very fun. It’s always a talking point with people, even on the tube. The trousers are Olive Clothing, and I have my Nikes on. I was going to the gym after work. I usually walk across the city to get there, so I need something comfortable. I love to walk around London, and you get to know the city better.

WEDNESDAY

I was going to see Rosalía live and wanted something easy. The concert was incredible. The trench coat is from Rokit Vintage in Covent Garden, one of my favourite vintage stores in London. If I’m buying a trench, blazer or coat, I usually go to vintage or charity shops. The t-shirt is the Willy Chavarria Zara collab. The trousers are Uniqlo, and the shoes are the Robyn Lynch Geox collab. I live in these shoes.

THURSDAY

I was having dinner with a friend after work. I love having sets in my wardrobe, like a silk set, a suit, or a double denim look. When my week is busy, it makes my life easier as I don’t need to think about it. The jacket and jeans are Simone Rocha, and the shoes are Dr Martens. I want special pieces in my wardrobe that I can wear time and time again, and I think this jacket embodies that.

FRIDAY

I was going to a pop-up in Shoreditch with a friend and then dinner. This knitwear piece is very special, my mam knit it for me. She has knit me some beautiful pieces that I cherish. I feel like I have a piece of home with me. The tulle piece underneath is Simone Rocha. The trousers are Zara, and my shoes are my trusty Nikes.

SATURDAY

I was heading to the gym and then going to a book shop with a friend. On the weekends, I tend to be more casual. Weekdays are very busy for me, so I like a slower pace at the weekend. The t-shirt is Simone Rocha. The baggy jeans are Uniqlo, finished with my Simone Rocha Crocs.

SUNDAY

Sunday, I met friends for coffee. I like this Simone Rocha top with the poppy on it. I can wear it with something plain, and it becomes the focal point of the look. I’m thinking that in the future I can wear it with tailored trousers and an oversized vintage coat if I’m going to an event.
