Irish-made athleisure brands that are comfortable, flattering AND sustainable

Shop our round up of stylish and comfy workout wear from gorgeous Irish brands.

Finding the right workout wear can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. You need something practical that holds everything in and gives support, but you also want to feel good in what you’re wearing too.

And while there are are plenty of gym gear options out there, it’s rare that you find clothing that does both, especially if you include the sustainability factor. Thankfully, there are some great Irish brands that provide high-quality athleisure wear that strikes this perfect balance.  You can find a wide range of these amazing brands online and in selected Kilkenny Design stores.

Shop Irish

When shopping, I’m always looking for a few essential boxes to be ticked. First off, I try to support Irish as much as I can. Not only does this support homegrown businesses but it’s the more sustainable option as well, cutting carbon emissions from international shipping, reducing carbon footprints from larger retailers, etc.

Second is finding clothing that makes me feel as good as my workout does. As someone who doesn’t have a perfect bum, I also opt for darker coloured leggings or those with patterns as they are the most flattering. Anything high-waisted helps keep things in place too, so you don’t have to keep pausing your workout to readjust your trousers.

Also, trendy, breathable tops that aren’t skin-tight are surprisingly hard to find. Look for lightweight fabrics with a longer length or that flow out in a triangle shape. The last thing you want to feel at the gym is insecure, and finding flattering shapes and fabrics help you feel like the boss babe that you are.

With that in mind, here is our favourite and most flattering Irish-made athleisure wear from Kilkenny Design, from high-waisted leggings to comfy pullovers to eco-friendly accessories.

Leggings

These leggings from homegrown brands Trendy & Bendy and Powercut come in darker shades and patterns to help highlight your curves in the most flattering ways. Plus, they are all super comfortable, stretchy, high-waisted and most of them have pockets!

Accessories

A reusable water bottle made from recycled materials and with a handy straw lid; a luxury yoga mat that doubles as wall art; stylish wireless earphones; and a sparkly smartwatch to monitor your workout. What more could you need?

Tops and Hoodies

These lovely tops are made with breathable fabric, including a mesh bit at the back, and flow out for a flattering shape. The hoodies are super cosy too, with fleece lining and spacious pockets to carry your phone or keys while out on your next run.

Matching Outfits

For those days where you really want to feel put together, these matching outfits are easy to throw on and go out the door, whether you’re headed to the gym or to meet up with a friend for coffee.

Kilkenny Design is encouraging everyone to Revive with their 100% Irish wellness department. The campaign runs in stores and online until February 20. Shoppers can enjoy an exclusive treat of €15 OFF* when you spend €75. *T&C’s apply.
