Florist Joeanna Caffrey shares her favourite daily SPF

As a young business owner and mum, Joeanna Caffrey has limited time for skincare. Her top priority, and rightly so according to beauty experts, is to always apply an SPF.

A working mum of two, Joeanna Caffrey followed her passion to start her own floristry business, which has since grown to four locations as well as a studio for wedding and event planning.

Along with keeping the wheels turning as founder, she feels her best when she looks her best and wearing daily SPF is an important part of her skincare routine, especially during the summer wedding season when she’s often working outdoors.

Joeanna shares her top beauty tips that she’s learned over the years as well as her favourite skincare products from No7’s new Future Renew range.

What inspired you to pursue your creative passion?

I grew up in the countryside of Co Meath and always adored nature and bringing the outside inside by filling the house with flowers and foliage. I inherited this from my mom, she was amazing with her hands and always decorated the house seasonally.

Fast forward to a marketing degree and working in the drinks industry, I gained a fantastic foundation from working in both sales and marketing. And having lost both my parents by the age of 25, I decided to pursue happiness and felt floristry was my natural calling.

I started all over again pursuing a floristry course in London and then gaining experience with London and Dublin florists before taking the plunge to go out on my own. That was 12 years ago and I have never looked back.

What self-care tool do you use regularly?

I love my make-up as it covers my tiredness! Sleep is my friend so I try and switch off in the evening. I force myself not to look at my emails after a certain time as it has caused stress and stopped me from sleeping in the past.

As an expert ‘life juggler’, what does a typical workday look like?

I have two small children: Violet is three and Reuben is one, so my first call is to feed Reuben, and then get Violet up and dressed. My husband, our kids and I have breakfast together and then we dress the children for the day. Paul usually brings Violet to playschool and our minder looks after Reuben.

I would then usually do my emails and calls from home in the morning and head out to visit my four stores at Avoca or head to my studio if we have weddings or events. No day is the same for me but every day is filled with calls, meetings, organising our next events and weddings, and buying stock for my stores. I also do all the social media.

Skincare can often be a restorative self-care ritual. What are some vital skincare rules you live by?

I remove my make-up every night and apply cream; I would never ever sleep with my make-up on. I also use a high SPF every single day underneath my make-up.

What is one skincare regret that you’ve had?

Exposing my skin to the sun too much!
