The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) are among the more low-key affairs of award season. Not as high maintenance as the Oscars or as fussy as the Golden Globes, the awards ceremony is important, however, because actors of the industry cast the votes and decide nominations – to get that acknowledgement from your peers is the icing on the cake.

Stars descended on the silver carpet in some of the more interesting design choices we’ve seen so far in terms of the gowns on display.

Mary Queen of Scots star Margot Robbie was a standout in a Chanel white and gold column dress embroidered with gold glass beading and metallic thread, as was Emily Blunts’ a custom crystal-embroidered pink Michael Kors gown with sculptural sleeves (she hasn’t put a foot wrong all season), while Lady Gaga went for more of a punk edge in a white V-neck Dior Haute Couture gown and striking dark lip.

The Favourite‘s Emma Stone also impressed as she switched things up in an asymmetrical gold top with neck bow, plus wide-leg high-waisted trousers. Yara Shahidi’s pink Fendi Couture tulle dress with trousers underneath the sheer skirt was also striking.

Lupita Nyong’o continued her run as one of the best-dressed in a custom Vera Wang Collection off-the-shoulder bustier-inspired jacket with sheer crystal-adorned skirt.
