Learn Dressmaking With Zo? Carol And Help An Orphanage In Zambia

This Sunday, one of IMAGE’s favourite young designers is teaming up with some of the country’s coolest fashion insiders to draw attention to a very noble cause. Zo? Carol is presenting three dressmaking workshops this weekend in Dublin city centre, where participants will learn how to make little dresses out of pillowcases – so cute! – for young girls living in an orphanage in Kabwe in Zambia.

Models Madeline Mulqueen and Teodora Sutra are travelling to said orphanage in a few weeks and will bring the resulting efforts with them to present to the deserving children. Mulqueen and Sutra will be joining fellow personalities Irma Mali, Siobhan O’Connor and Diana Bunici in building an emergency shelter for the girls, who are under the care of the charity Orphans of Africa. These young women have lost their families to war and AIDS and range in age from 6 to 12-years-old.

Zo?’s sewing workshop won’t just raise funds for these girls – she’s suggesting a €10 donation per person – but the act of giving these girls a dress will be one they never forget. A new dress is a luxury for children reliant on the kindness of NGOs and people’s donations. As well as learning to make the pillow dresses with one of Ireland’s most promising designers, you will also be able to send the recipient of your dress a note.?Platform 61 will be providing the nibbles and the Eventbrite link is here.
