How to embrace some Meghan Markle style on Christmas Day

We’ve been tracking the sartorial journey of Meghan Markle just like everybody else this year, marvelling at her sophisticated silhouettes and taking notes on her nuanced approach to styling neutrals. She’s been a game changer as far as Royal dress codes are concerned, shaking up – without subverting – the formality of this ancient institution. She’s shown no particular allegiance to any one brand, having worn everyone from Italian designer Antonia Beradi to high-street hero Asos.

Will she choose designer or high street, neutrals or festive red, demure or daring? We can’t wait to find out. In the meantime, here are a few ideas for you if you’d like your festive wardrobe to be Meghan Markle inspired.

This JW Anderson dress, worn with heels, would look so chic over Christmas. It has a dipped cowl-neck back, so perhaps too much for Christmas Day, but not for one of the many meet-ups you’ll undoubtedly be having over the next few weeks. The duchess of Sussex wore an Irish designer recently, having chosen a full-length white gown by Don O’Neill’s Theia label during her trip to Australia.

Navy is one of Meghan’s go-to colours. It’s chic, understated and less harsh on your complexion than black. I love the subtlety of this piece; the single button adds a nice detail, while creating a flattering waistline.

With her beautiful skin tone, Meghan Markle can wear neutrals with effortless ease. If you’re lucky enough to have the skin tone for this subtly festive shade of gold, this knitted dress by Chloé could work for you.

Meghan Markle has been seen wearing heritage checks, with a Margaret Howell trench coat, so this Massimo Dutti belted dress feels very Meghan-inspired. This 1950s silhouette is one that Meghan was fond off before her pregnancy.
