Cosmopolitan is one of the most iconic magazine’s in the world, often coupled with words like ‘dawn of the sexual revolution.’ Yes, it’s also infamous for slightly outlandish sex tips articles, but Cosmo, as it is universally, known is one of the first publications that was written for women and by women. Under the editorship of Helen Gurley-Brown, who is due a biopic, the magazine became the bible for American women who thought the idea of being a 1950s housewife sounded like no craic. In recent years Cosmo has won awards for it’s consistent reports on women’s rights, especially the legislative assault on the right to choice in the states.
This year the magazine is celebrating its fiftieth year. The rather fabulous current Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles had a party last night to mark the occasion, which hosted the Kardashian sisters – Kendall was away – and Kris Jenner. The famous family appear on this month’s anniversary edition, with Khloe, Kourtney and Kim all enjoying separate covers. The modern Cosmo Girl isn’t just fun and fearless. She’s also an entertainment tycoon who demands millions in a salary every year and launches an app about her lifestyle.
The party itself attracted musicians, actresses and bloggers, Dress code wise, we think Olivia Culpo and Sarah Hyland stole the show in stunning black pantsuits. Kris Jenner won the accessories race with doorstopper earrings, because that is such a Kris thing to do.
