Your April style saviour? A sleeveless coat of course

Your April style saviour? A sleeveless coat of course

Yes it’s cold this week (I’m wearing a polo-neck), but the weather must be about to break… surely?! One way or another the piece you need to see you through the tricky transitional month of April is a trusty sleeveless coat – it’s the perfect transitional piece. It looks great worn over a leather jacket in winter, and slick over a T-shirt in spring, so it’s definitely not a whimsical buy. Clever styling means it will work throughout the seasons, so don’t feel guilty if you want to invest in something a little bit special. Here are three that might appeal.

This is a truly fabulous piece by an emerging Italian designer. I adore the mix of textures, and the varying shades of red through to burgundy. It’s a timeless classic that will never go out of style. At 60 per cent off, it still costs over €700, but it is a statement buy.

The classic beige trench coat is reimagined as a sleeveless jacket by River Island. This piece is so on-trend for SS18, but more than that it will be your go-to piece through spring and early summer into autumn.

This is my favourite sleeveless coat because of its childhood duffle-coat associations… remember toggle fastenings? This would look fantastic layered over a fitted leather jacket in winter. This piece is a great investment buy you’ll love forever.
