Ben Sun: A week in my wardrobe

Ben Sun: A week in my wardrobe

by Ben Sun
21st Nov 2022

A make-up artist, model and style influencer, Ben Sun loves all things fashion and beauty. Here he shares a week in his wardrobe.

MONDAY

This is my typical airport/travelling fit. I snapped this shot in London on my way back home from a runway show. I bought this trench coat in Massimo Dutti, the grey just really stood out to me. I love the long belt at the waist, you can cinch it in to accentuate your silhouette. The undershirt is from Prada, it’s a thick cotton rib so it keeps me very cosy. I paired it with some black leather gloves, straight-leg leather pants and a pair of boots to make it a bit more my style. Chic and comfortable for travelling.

TUESDAY

This pic of me was taken in Paris last week. I love to indulge in some good pasta and wine from time to time. As it’s starting to get quite chilly (and I do not like the cold), I opted for this oversized fur jacket I thrifted from a vintage store in Paris. I do love the drama a big fur can add to your outfit, I think it can really elevate a look. I paired it with acid-wash baggy jeans, a simple black t-shirt and my Versace shades.

WEDNESDAY

Leather jackets are my favourite thing in the world, and I love this red biker moment. The jacket itself is from Bershka but I do like the vintage look and feel that it has to it. I wore this out in town last week to meet my friends for some drinks.  And of course, I also had to throw on my favourite pair of black leather gloves from All Saints. I think little details like that can polish off a look. Watching runway shows and reading fashion mags definitely gives me a lot of inspiration when putting together outfits. It helps me to get creative, and to think of different ways to style/alter clothes that I probably wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

THURSDAY

This is my super casual, just got out of bed not in the mood to go to college fit. I study Commerce International and French at UCD so I like to dress comfortably while sitting for hours at a time in my lectures. The graphic hoodie I’m wearing is part of the Matrix Collection from Jaded London. I paired it with a pair of baggy denim jeans that I bought in Urban Outfitters last year.

 FRIDAY

This is probably one of my favourite outfits that I’ve worn. I snapped this shot before the IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards. I think this look is a good representation of my personal style. I love a structured blazer with strong shoulder pads. The chains underneath are actually necklaces that I purchased from an Italian jewellery designer. I think black leather is definitely having a moment right now and I remember feeling super good wearing this look.

 SATURDAY

I wore this look out in Paris last week at a Halloween party. I wanted to do my eye makeup that night to give me a sort of dead/vampire look. The cutout top is from Salt Murphy, it’s a super cool Australian menswear brand and I own lots of pieces from them. My jeans are from Jaded London and are probably my fave pair that I have in my wardrobe. They’re super baggy and long and I think the cutouts add some edge compared to a normal pair of jeans.

 SUNDAY

I’m currently obsessed with denim so this is something I would wear to a shoot or out shopping. Sundays are quite busy for me as I’m usually shooting. Whether it’s for a magazine or just an editorial I still like to play with my outfit. I love wearing high necks in winter – they’re so comfy and effortless but are still quite chic. This black knit is a ribbed material that I bought from Zara. My denim jacket is also from Zara but I decided to personalise it by adding some studs and rivets on the shoulders, pockets and collar to give it a more punk feel. My boots are from Heliot Emil, they have a full metal heel which I think looks really futuristic and modern. The belt is Balenciaga and I definitely get plenty of wear out of it because it’s so versatile.
