The SS17 Hair Trends Straight From London Fashion Week

The SS17 Hair Trends Straight From London Fashion Week

There was an overall nostalgic excitation across the first weekend at this year’s London Fashion Week. Hair stylists and makeup artists waited in anticipation for their chosen model to arrive so they could begin their transformation. By day two we had already seen two offbeat takes on the traditional braided trend; offering a fresh approach and a modern twist to a classic?technique.

The Textured Braid

On Friday, Ashley Williams and Bora Aksu were among the first faction of designers to present their work at this year’s event; both of whom exercised the braided movement but a continued emphasis’remained on an expression of individuality towards the designer’s?collections. Simon Rocha yesterday chose a timeless two-plait classic for her 6th year showing at LFW. The braids?were set high on the back of the head giving the illusion of one single braid if observing from the model’s profile. Wet-look, wispy bangs added an extra dimension of movement to the look; further perfecting Rocha’s overall youthful and sugary, yet sultry aesthetic.

How achievable?are these looks to recreate on your own? According to Toni&Guy hair’stylist Mikey Joe, these looks are very achievable at home; especially when you have the right tools and products: ” I recommend texturizing sea-salt spray by Toni&Guy because it adds a bit of grit and texture to the hair so it helps you to grip the hair better if you’re trying out the braids trend. Using our Matt texture dry shampoo gives the hair a good finish, and then finishing off with a little spritz of hairspray will give you the hold you need. If you want a little bit more shine, the shine spray or gloss – especially when used on dry ends – will give the hair some separation and movement away from the matted texture”.

No Hair Don’t Care

It may be quite radical, but the unequivocal’resurgence of the buzzcut among women is definite and palpable. British model and founder of GurlsTalk Adwoa Aboah was one of the first’models of the week to employ the masculine look during Ashley Williams, and seen again during Sharon?Wauchob and Antonia Berardi. The clean-cut and simple hairstyle – especially when paired with juxtaposing feminism-inspired collections such Ashley Williams -?provided for a fascinating approach to androgyny, and carries serious sentimentality for the 90’s.

To tame your buzzcut and keep it looking smooth and healthy, stylists recommend using Volume and bounce 3D Volumiser spray?Toni&Guy which helps give the hair natural-looking body from within the hair follicle; adding fullness and a healthy shine.
