Philip Treacy For MAC Is As Dramatic As We Expected

MAC‘s collaborations just keep getting more daring. With Giambattista Valli on the horizon – expect all the details from Jo in the coming weeks – and the recent runaway-before-midnight success of the Cinderella collection, the direction of the beauty brand is unpredictable, but always amazing.

The next collaboration to hit stores is possibly the one that has excited us most in recent memory. Philip Treacy, the Irish couture hat designer, has teamed up with MAC to deliver a small collection of items inspired by his sensational work named Philip Treacy for MAC. Three headpieces were created especially for the process and products devised to work in tandem with these sensational wearable pieces of art.

Our pick of the collection has to start with Treacy’s rendition of the cult Fluidline. We love the rich azure of Blue Peep.
His version of the Highlight Powder comes in two shades, Blush Pink and Nude Pink. We’re swaying towards the summery vibe of the latter

The lipsticks in the collection are reminscent of a deeply dramatic rose garden with the amazing pigment we immediately associate with MAC. The late famous style icon Isabella Blow was one of Treacy’s first committed patrons, and a lover of a statement lip. We can easily imagine her loving these shades.

For us the standout has to be Cardinal (?19.50). It’s a technicolour delight and evokes those jaunty 1950s movies of old. Think Leslie Caron in An American in Paris and you’re in the headspace that can carry off this playful red.

What do you think of the collection? Will you be buying any items?

The MAC Philip Treacy collection is available in Brown Thomas later this month.
