When it came to hair at NYFW, two distinct school of tresses thought emerged, go big or go faux natural.

Diane Von Furstenberg was all about the Studio 54. See Karlie Kloss owning it below. Death gaze optional.

Karlie’s hair got another going-over at Jeremy Scott.

But other houses, such as Ralph Lauren, announced a return to the noughties sleekness with a touch of Love Story‘s Ali MacGraw.

Beige really did emerge?as a full-on trend.?Proenza Schouler sent their girls down the runway with mostly nude looks – nails included – but did make some allowances for a?flush of coral lip. Nothing showy seemed to be the general mantra.

Oscar de la Renta are the oracles of eveningwear, so there was some allowance on the eyelids and dashing highlighter, but other than that, it was very simple. Overall thoughts on the future of beauty following NYFW? Tame and tidy. Invest in good skincare. Hydrate. Shop around for a new foundation. Also, book hair treatments if you are either planning to embrace the hair-full-of-secrets vibe or waterfall of locks look. Your head and Instagram selfies will thank you.

Or maybe all those runway mavens are completely wrong and Marc Jacobs urban Mad Max glitter goth is the future.?Think 1930s steampunk, only with more make-up wipes beside the bed.
