Go gold or go home: heavenly beauty looks from the Met Gala 2018

Indisputably the biggest night in fashion, on the first Monday in May each year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City opens its doors to the rising stars and supreme leaders in fashion and pop culture, to fundraise for the museum and open the annual fashion exhibition at the Costume Institute.

The theme for the exhibition this year was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, examining fashion’s ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism.

Today on IMAGE.ie, fashion director Marie Kelly will be sharing her favourite looks, we’ve looked back on the best ballgowns to ever grace the red carpet at the Met Gala and the sublime to the ridiculous. In beauty, one prevailing trend at the Met Gala 2018 was shimmering golden – highlighted on cheekbones, slicked through eyebrows, dotted around the eyes and braided in hair.

Praise at the altar of Rihanna, worship at the feet of Kate Moss and be blessed by the halo braid of Solange. Check out the best beauty looks from the Met Gala 2018 below.
