Face Forward: 5 Minutes With Renowned Makeup Artist Trish McEvoy

BIGGEST TREND FOR SS17? Bright pops of colour on lips, almost reminiscent of the 1970s, and in textures that won’t budge.

DO YOU FOLLOW BEAUTY TRENDS? Trends go around in circles. I think it’s fun. And the textures change as technology evolves. But I would say make-up is an outfit; learn the basics and know what suits you.

BIGGEST BEAUTY BLUNDER WOMEN MAKE? Not learning how to blend properly.

TOP STYLE TIP? Keep it easy, stick to one shade with a pop of colour, and try to have a streamlined wardrobe – less is more.

FAVOURITE FASHION LABEL? Azzedine Alai?a.

HEELS OR FLATS??Mid-heel.

LAST THING YOU DOWNLOADED??A book, Jack Welch and the GE Way by Robert Slater.

FAVOURITE FILM? 5 to 7.

HOW DO YOU CLEAR YOUR MIND? After work, I walk home and I’m usually with a friend or someone who works with me.

FAVOURITE TIPPLE??Vodka on the rocks.

WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE IN THE MORNING? 5am, and I am ready to go in 30 minutes.

BEST ADVICE YOU?VE EVER BEEN GIVEN? What goes around comes around, and the future is long.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY??It all works out, but think about money coming in and give equal attention to the money going out.

WHAT IS THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS??Be in the moment and be content. But you can’t find contentment if you don’t feel great about yourself.

LAST THING YOU THINK ABOUT AT NIGHT? My husband [dermatologist Dr Ronald Sherman]. There’s a saying that I love that says, ?It all comes down to the last person you think of at night – that’s where your heart is.? So it’s my husband. And maybe everyone in my company!
