My day in beauty with Xposé’s Nadine Reid: “I am yet to find a better black liner than the Inglot one!”

Is it just me, or is Nadine Reid absolutely taking over the world? She’s the most gorgeous person both inside and out, and always looks absolutely flawless. Her background in make-up artistry made me want to know what she can’t live without…

“I honestly don’t have set products I always use, except for maybe my hair. I am happy to try new things on the face and body. I will never not clean and moisturise my skin twice a day. I have never got into wearing primers either, I prefer to use a serums to balance my skin’s texture before wearing make-up.”

Nadine’s skincare picks:

Cleanser: L’Occitane oil make-up remover
Eye make-up remover: Bioderma Sensibio H2O Makeup Remover
Moisturiser: Bellevue Botanicals Lavender & Sandalwood
Serum: Filorga Paris
Face scrub: Love Beauty & Planet
Mask: Jet, Super Hydrating Mask Kit and Antioxidant Mask Kit
Hand cream: Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
Lip Balm: L’Occitane and Lancôme Juicy Shaker for shine.
Deep cleansing cloths: H&K (I use so much oils and heavy coverage makeup I would be lost without a face cloth)

“I adore an oil makeup remover, it cleanses my skin and leaves the texture feeling moisturised and supple.”

L’Occitane Oil Cleanser, €22

“I use sheet masks when I feel dehydrated or just to remind myself to stop, chill and have a self care moment. They are especially brilliant on long flights or if you have had heating on a lot.”

Nadine’s top skincare tip:
“Simply always moisturise your skin twice a day! in the morning and before bed. At night spend a minute massaging the face and neck whatever oil or cream you use. ‘A wee face massage’ and your skin becomes plumper and more youthful. I believe it’s one of the reasons black skin normally looks so well.”

Nadine’s make-up picks:

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Fluid, or Kat Von D foundation for going ‘out out’. Fenty Beauty or Lancôme for day ( They are the only brands that have great selections of darker shades and textures for my deep dark brown skin)
Mascara: The Benefit Bad Gal Lash when I’m not wearing false lashes. Flormar Precious Curl when I’m wearing false lashes
Liner Inglot Gel Liner 77
Highlight: Fenty Beauty Body Lava, it’s always limited edition, and it’s around again for the summer get involved!
Palette/eyeshadow: Jaycats Beauty Hollywood eyeshadow palette
Powder: MAC Mineralize Sun Power or the new Kat Von D Lock It Powder Foundation
Brushes: I have a great collection of Mac brushes over 15 years old along with Nima brushes and Blank Canvas.
Other: BIO Bags by Nima – The Hold All, to keep everything neat and organised, very important and great time saver.

Inglot AMC Gel Liner in 77, €16

Nadine’s top make-up tip:
“I am yet to find a better black liner than the Inglot Gel Liner. I have recently been spending time getting back into wearing eyeshadow, so I would say to try something new, play with colour on your eyes!”

Nadine’s hair picks:

Shampoo : Avlon Kera care Natural Textures range, 1st lather, and Hydrating shampoo
Conditioner: Avlon Kera Care Natural textures conditioner and Leave in conditioner
Brushes: Sibel Plastic Scalp Brush or if I’m feeling fancy a Tangle Teezer

Tangle Teezer Llama edition, €16.20

“Every time I go home to Birmingham, I go for a treatment at a textured hair specialist salon called SG Hair. I have many services and hairstyles, hair extensions, I haven’t yet found access to in Ireland. Sam the owner of SG sometimes flies into Dublin to do my hair for big shoots. I am being brave and have a few consultations booked in Dublin with other hairstylists… fingers crossed someone will be confident to work with my hair type.”

Nadine’s top hair tip:
“If you have curly hair or a version of afro hair, it’s so important to keep it moisturised, especially living in a mostly cold, wet climate. I always choose the high-end hair products that are perfect for my hair texture. The Avlon Keracare line I use is perfect and serves me very well. I couldn’t live without the leave-in conditioner.”
