The reinvention of the cat-eye: would you try graphic eyeliner?

This season, eyes are in full focus with the reinvention of the traditional cat-eye.

“Eyeliner is no longer just a feline flick,” says Terry Barber, MAC’s director of make-up artistry. “It’s now in many places, like dotted between the lashes or smudged on the inner eye. Eyeliner that’s underneath or on top of the eye can show totally different things about a person.”

For SS18, updated takes on the make-up staple include the negative space swooping liner at Rochas by Lucia Pieroni, rounded-wing liner at Tom Ford, Erdem’s half-liner, and Isa Arfen’s prominent Kabuki.

“The iconic winged eyeliner is evolving this season into a spherical shape and exaggerated smudged wing”, says make-up artist Mary Ellen Darby.
