We love how affordable Ikea furniture is, but if you want to give it your own touch, these brands are here to help.

Have you ever gone over to a friend’s house (remember that?), and realised that you share several pieces of furniture? “Oh you have a Råskog trolley too”, you remark. “And a Kallax shelf. And a Stockholm rug. Me too.”

We’re huge fans of Ikea, but the Swedish furniture brand is so ubiquitous that if you’re planning a larger purchase like a sofa or a kitchen, you might be wondering if there’s a way to customise it to make it feel a little different.

Well the answer is yes, there is, thanks to a number of clever companies. Here are some of the best that we’ve seen.

Bemz

Bemz specialises in creating covers for Ikea sofas, so whether you have one that’s looking a little shabby, or are planning a new purchase but aren’t loving the fabric options, check out their options.

They have over 100 fabrics to choose from, as well as alternative legs, so you can create a completely different feel for your sofa or armchair. Simply search by your Ikea product name to see your options.

Pretty Pegs

From furniture handles legs to self-adhesive cabinet fronts, Pretty Pegs has plenty of ways to customise your Ikea furniture. With options for beds, storage, and kitchen units, it’s a low-cost way to update almost any room in your house.

Superfront

A great way to get a customised kitchen on an Ikea budget, Superfront has a range of fronts, handles and legs for Ikea kitchens, so you can buy Ikea cabinet frames and then choose from Superfront’s range to customise them.

They also have options for various other Ikea storage units, such as the Pax wardrobe and Metod range.

Husk

Providing everything from fronts to worktops and sinks to handles, Husk provides loads of options for customising your Ikea kitchen. They have products from other brands such as Ferm Living and Quooker, as well as their own, so it’s a great way to order a lot of your kitchen from one place.

Reform

With a large range of kitchen fronts to choose from, including a brass option for those who love a high shine, Reform has some particularly high-end designs to choose from. They also have clear price lists, so it’s easy to work out exactly how much your new kitchen is going to cost.

Custom Fronts

Offering a range of beautifully sleek kitchen fronts and worktops, Custom Fronts make each order specifically so they can easily add custom details for you such as extra shelves or panels. They’re also great for people who love love natural finishes, as their options include smoked Oak and European Walnut veneer.
