Team IMAGE on the feelgood Netflix shows and movies they always return to

Team IMAGE on the feelgood Netflix shows and movies they always return to

Feel-good entertainment for when you get overwhelmed, as recommended by team IMAGE

My favourite feel-good shows are Gilmore Girls and Full House. I watched Full House growing up so its wholesomeness is the perfect cure for an anxiety-riddled day. Gilmore Girls is a classic and Rory and Lorelai’s sarcasm and love for food is truly relatable. – Shayna Sappington, editorial assistant.

Netflix

I come back to Master of None on Netflix again and again. Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang’s Netflix original series has pretty much everything I want from a show; it’s so funny, the characters are heartwarming, there is great food and an even better wardrobe and one of the most romantic plotlines — every time I watch the season 2 finale I can hear my heartbeat in my ears and my stomach feels like it’s going to fall out of my arse. Each episode centres around various modern phenomena, from first dates to religion to immigrant parents to the differences men and women experience on a daily basis. I’ve probably watched both seasons about six times. – Holly O’Neill, junior beauty editor.

The show I always go back to when I need a boost is definitely Queer Eye. As much as the cynic in me wants to hate their oh-so American platitudes about loving yourself and putting yourself first, every episode makes me so undeniably happy. The Fab Five are just a joyful bunch and their energy is absolutely infectious. Also, who among us can resist a good old-fashioned makeover? Certainly not me.  – Megan Burns, staff writer.

My go-to is something cheesy and easy like To All The Boys I Loved Before. I am addicted to bad romantic comedies and this is at the top of my list. It’s cute and loving with a slight 1980s John Hughes feel and always puts me in a good mood. – Edaein O’Connell, staff writer.

My former go-to when I wanted something gentle and untaxing was Downton Abbey. Lavish set design, exquisite costumes and Dame Maggie Smith — what more could you want? However, having watched it back-to-back more than once, I had to find something else to fill the Crawley-shaped hole in my life. Right now, it’s Ladies in Black on Netflix. Set in Australia in 1959, this delightful coming-of-age film follows a bookish schoolgirl who gets a summer job in a prominent Sydney department store. If you love Downton Abbey, you’ll love this. – Katie Byrne, acting digital editor.
