Gorgeous living room inspiration if you’re thinking of redecorating

Gorgeous living room inspiration if you’re thinking of redecorating

In need of some interiors inspiration? Look no further than these gorgeous living rooms, from Dublin, Belfast and beyond.

A living room is for living in and should be comfortable, warm and inviting. It should not feel like a hotel room, even if it is a very glam hotel. Don’t get me wrong, everyone loves staying in a beautiful hotel, but hotels are for breaks away from home.

The living room in Lundies House, above, is perfect (even though it is technically a guest house). The understated beauty of this room ticks all the boxes: muted colours without being boring, a beautiful comfy velvet sofa, high sash windows, rustic wooden coffee table, modern lighting and fresh flowers.

This room, like the rest of this incredible Belfast home, is traditional but with a contradiction to it by mixing old and new. A B&B Italia couch sits proud in the room with ornate ceilings, original French doors, matching walnut pier cabinets and antique portraits. From the May/June 2019 issue of IMAGE Magazine

The traditional 1930s room features the original fireplace, mirror and clock, while the couch is Natuzzi. The wallpaper is also original. “It’s amazing to still have that. If I was going to pick wallpaper I don’t think I would choose that but it was there and I think it’s such an amazing artefact,” says homeowner Piers who inherited the house. The living room of this South Dublin home is open-plan, creating a link between the kitchen and the corridor. The exposed beams and mix of old and modern furniture add character and warmth – even pup Willow feels comfy on the textured rug while the modern string wall shelving filled with memories adds some interest. From the January/February 2019 issue of IMAGE Magazine

The living room is an airy, light-filled space overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A custom-made navy sofa in walnut and the Berber rug sourced in Marrakech add pops of colour, while the antique wooden table, old brass tray and large grass mat adds texture. Just imagine sitting on that sofa in the warm sunlight with the sound of the ocean in the background. From the July/August 2019 issue of IMAGE Magazine

This space is the perfect example of how to turn a large warehouse into a comfy, modern family home. The white palette unifies the main space, while the leather sofa, oriental rug, patterned coffee table and stove add warmth. From the July/August 2019 issue of IMAGE Magazine
