The vibrant design will also help to raise money for Together Academy and The Down Syndrome Centre.

Nordic Elements interior design studio and gallery in Blackrock, Dublin, has collaborated with Irish artist Ellie Dunne to create a colourful special edition Kasthall wool rug.

Ellie, who has Down Syndrome, is a student of Fine Art at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin. Ellie’s work is known for its use of colour, and she has collaborated with other Irish brands, designing blankets with Cushendale and IrelandsEye

“I worked first with the colours and then on the design of the rug,” says Ellie. “I love all the different pinks and the contrast with the bright blue.”

“At Nordic Elements we are big fans of Ellie’s work,” said Helle Moyna, founder of Nordic Elements, “and given she is such a talented colourist we thought she was the ideal person to work with Kasthall’s range of 1,500 colours.”

Not only is this rug a showstopping piece that will add gorgeous colour to any space, it will also raise money for a good cause. Nordic Elements will donate €500 from each order to Together Academy and Down Syndrome Centre, and has also donated one of these special edition wool rugs, measuring 170 x 240cm, to the charities.

They are raffling Ellie’s Rug with tickets priced at €10 and available for online purchase at togetheracademy.ie. Ellie’s Rug will be on display at Happy Out at Dun Laoghaire Baths, a joint venture with Together Academy, and in the Nordic Elements shop at 38 Main Street, Blackrock. A QR code will be available at both locations for instant raffle ticket purchase, and the raffle draw will be made on December 23.

Ellie works in Together Academy training café in Wanderers during her summer holidays, and many of her friends are graduates of the Academy. Helle’s goddaughter Purdy also attends The Down Syndrome Centre.

Nordic Elements is a stockist of Kasthall, a Swedish company that was established in 1889. Known for its combination of elegant designs with high quality materials and superior craftsmanship, all Kasthall rugs are made in its factory in Kinna in Sweden.

Ellie’s Rug is available to order from Nordic Elements priced at €2,750.
