Our favourite home office buys from the online sales (for under €50)

Looks like our home offices will be in full use for the foreseeable – many of them doubling as creches and schools and music practice venues – so why not make them a little more welcoming.

With the January sales all taking place online now it’s the perfect time to warm up a chilly spare bedroom, put order on a chaotic kitchen table or generally make your workspace more comfortable, and at an affordable price.

Eco Wall Clock, €45 (was €55), Old Mill Stores

When you’re working from home, it’s easy to get bogged down in the work and forget to break for lunch or stand up and have a stretch. A bright clock with an easy-to-read face will quickly tell how close you are to five o’clock and that glass of wine.

Nordic Forest scented candle, €15 (was €30), Article

Christmas may be over but that means there are some great winter-scented candles now on sale. This one burns beautifully and has a fresh, pine needle scent, perfect for wiping away the lingering odour of last night’s roast chicken so you can start the workday anew.

Side table with bevelled edge, €39.99 (was €59.99), Zara Home

This is not for working on, but for “spillage”. If you have moved from a large and spacious office to a cramped two-foot desk, you’ll know what I mean. For extra paper work, technology and maybe a glass of water…

Kartell Trama water glass in pink, €11 (was €13), Amara

… because hydration is key! This glass is absolutely dreamy, you’re guaranteed to get some compliments when you take a sip during a Zoom. And it’s got to be some kind of a scientific fact that you drink more water when it’s from a pretty glass, right?

Black house shelf, €29, Foxford Woollen Mills

If you need a little more storage space that isn’t the floor around your desk, this house shelving is simple and handy. Also a good spot for a potted plant so you have something green and leafy to look at while you work.

Cotton satin cushion cover, €15 (was €19.99), H&M Home

Make sure you’re looking after your back while you’re working. This cushion is comfy and chic, no natty dog-chewed cushions to catch people’s eye in your background.

Huskee cup with lid, €13.60 (was €17), Industry & Co

Keep your coffee hot and stylish with this Huskee cup.

Ovie Bird ceramic plant pot, €13.78 (was €20.66), Oliver Bonas

And finally, how sweet is this little plant pot?!
