Hotel review: I found the ultimate girls’ getaway staycation

IMAGE's Director of Branded Partnerships Karen Bell tries out a girls weekend at The K Club with promising results.

With busy lifestyles, it can become harder to get quality time with your friends, where you really feel caught up and reconnected. Days can turn into weeks and those weekend trips need to be carefully planned months in advance, and often fall to the wayside.

What if there was a beautiful hotel, less than an hour from Dublin where you can block out all distractions and cater to quality time with your bestie. Sound too good to be true? It almost is. The K Club have launched a girlie getaway package, which is the ultimate place to really indulge in some self-care, delicious food, beautiful strolls through the stunning grounds and most importantly block off the outside world and catch up with friends.

Our stay at the K-Club was the ultimate in girlie breaks, and more! As soon as we stepped out of our car, we were greeted by the cheeriest porter who couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay started as it meant to continue, completely relaxed and totally spoiled.

As we walked the corridors to our room, there was a nod to the history of the house along the way, which added to the luxurious feel of the hotel. We were staying on the ground floor, the sunlight was beaming into the room all afternoon, which made it harder to leave. We happily would’ve spent our day lying in robes and sipping on prosecco in our beautiful room catching up.

Like most, a girlie getaway isn’t complete without a visit to the spa. We wandered through the beautiful corridors again and through quaint courtyards to make our way to the spa. We were guided to a pre-treatment room, where between the calming sounds and smells and cosy loungers, we instantly felt lighter, more relaxed and started to feel completely zen.

A therapist guides you to a treatment room, where we both had head, shoulder and neck massages and completely melted away. Once I was peeled off the massage table, we spent some time in another relaxation room with a jacuzzi, where we were treated to a platter of fresh fruit, herbal teas and biscuits…utter heaven. The spa also has an outdoor hot tub, steam room and sauna to try, and a large pool to float away a little longer.

Before dinner, we swerved left into The Blue Martini Cocktail Bar to enjoy a delicious cocktail and enjoyed conversation with John, Hotel Beverages Manager, who kept us entertained with stories of the hotel, its previous owners and some special guests who have visited.

After our cocktail, it was time for dinner in the decadent Barton restaurant, where I think we got the best seats in the room. We enjoyed our dinner while overlooking the beautiful K Club gardens.

To say it was one of the best dinner experiences is an understatement. The food from starters to dessert was just sublime, the recommended wine was perfect and we were treated to delicious dessert wine with our Melted Milk Chocolate Sphere.

Breakfast was once again in The Barton restaurant, but the bright morning light made it feel like a completely different space. We enjoyed some fruit, yoghurt and pancakes of course. Fuelled with coffee, we couldn’t leave without taking our time to stroll around the beautiful grounds. We were also blessed with a beautiful sunny morning, which meant we could really enjoy our stroll.

The K Club was the ultimate luxurious girlie getaway, from the food and cocktails to the spa treatments and walks…not to mention our stunning room – it allowed plenty of time to unwind and for chats in between.

As we made our way towards home, we couldn’t not finish our girlie getaway without a little retail therapy. We stopped off in Kildare Village where we continued the self-indulgence with some treats and a lunch in Strongs in Kildare Town to truly make the most of our day.

The K Club have launched their Girls Getaway packages. Reconnect with your closest friends and enjoy a blissful escape designed to help you relax, retreat and rediscover your bond with your besties. Visit The K Club for more information.
