Ealaín álainn: Art prints that will add some Irish pride to the walls of your home

As patriotism bubbles towards an all-time high in the lead up to Saint Patrick’s Day — and the long weekend — storefronts are turning green and the tricolour is proudly on display at every corner. Luckily, Irish talent is truly abundant, and there are a number of dedicated shops dotted across the country from which to procure some hand drawn prints, intricate illustrations, and top notch photography that speaks to our innate Irishness.

From Hen’s Teeth in Blackpitts and Jam Art Prints in Temple Bar to My Shop… Granny Likes It in Galway, these independent businesses make it their mission to give Irish artists a space to shine, and support them by bringing their work to the market.

Whether you’re the proud curator of a feature gallery wall along your staircase, or love to splash a little vibrancy into every corner of your home by popping an art print here and there, here are some very worthy additions to your collection.

On the other hand, if one of your best friends, siblings, or colleagues has decided to take the plunge and move off overseas, there’s no better way to pull on their heart strings and fill them with nostalgia for home than by adding a little bit of Irish art to their luggage.

Sketches of familiar skylines, the fundamentals of a full Irish fry up, or reminders that it’s always a good day for a Guinness, these Irish art prints speak to the spirit of divilment that exists inside us all, and reminds us of the shared experiences that are part and parcel of hailing from Ireland.
