Picnics and football: you can guess what’s in this week’s What’s On

Stuck for plans for this weekend? Well, if you’re not heading to Stradbally, I can understand why. The upside of not heading to Electric Picnic while seemingly everyone else in the country does so is that there will be plenty of room for activities in Dublin city. Head to the gallery, go to a match and enjoy the quiet bliss. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

On Friday: COYGIG at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier

In their last game of their group, Ireland will take on Northern Ireland in the qualifiers for the World Cup. Unfortunately, after a couple of defeats so far, Ireland are out of the running to qualify for the World Cup but that’s no excuse not to cheer on the girls in green. Bragging rights are all to play for, and tickets for adults are just €5 – get on it.

On Friday: Watch Ladybird in Happenings at Merrion Square

Saoirse Ronan is one of the finest Irish actresses ever, so the opportunity to watch her on the big screen in the gorgeous backdrop of Merrion Square is a no-brainer. Starting off at 9pm, watch the Oscar-nominated picture on a projector, with plenty of food options available from Irish Village Markets.

All weekend: Experience magic at the IFI Family Festival

With it being back-to-school this week, there’s no doubt that both you and the kids are craving a bit of quality time together. The IFI Family Festival features a ream of gorgeous films from around the world, all shown in the very lovely Irish Family Institute in the city centre. Book your tickets in advance.

And of course… There’s E.P and the All-Ireland Final

Tickets were snapped up long ago, but at least Insta-stories are free.
