Nature-inspired wallpapers to brighten up any room

While we still adore Scandi-inspired minimalism, there’s something to be said for having print and colour in our homes. Maybe it’s all the summery weather we’ve been having, but we’re thinking more about how to bring that outdoor feeling inside, especially for the days when the sun doesn’t shine. These wallpapers all take their inspiration from the natural world, from flamboyant florals to curious creatures.

Whale of a time

Proving that patterned wallpaper doesn’t have to mean shouty colours, these calming whales will make you think of rolling waves and sea-toned shades. Even better, this clever design is self-adhesive, and can be removed and repositioned without leaving a trace, perfect for rented homes or those of us who love to change things up. Whale self-adhesive wallpaper, from €32.51. Jumanjii, etsy.com

Dark & daring

If, however, you’re not one to shy away from a little drama, then this House of Hackney design is the perfect combination of delicate flowers with a deep background. Dark colours can work well in any space, so don’t rule your home out just because you don’t have huge rooms. Poppium wallpaper, around €212 per roll.

Jungle fever

Interior designer Caroline Flannery opted for this Cole & Son tropical design for her staircase and hallway, showing that you can make transition spaces like this into a feature. The lush foliage of this pattern is also a low-maintenance way to add some meditative natural shades into your home (without all the watering). Click here to have a look around the rest of her house. Palm Jungle wallpaper, €134 per roll.

Jump for joy

If you find flowers and foliage too fussy, try the regular pattern of these leaping hares. This Jane Churchill design will add just a touch of colour, and plenty of personality to your walls. March Hare wallpaper, €62 per roll.
