Gorgeously designed Irish hotels, boutiques and homes to stay in

We love staying in places so beautiful we want to steal their interiors ideas, but you don’t have to go off to a far-flung destination. There are loads of Irish hotels, boutiques and homes you can stay in that are gorgeously designed, here are a few of our favourites.

Irish breaks

Gregan’s Castle

One for the traditionalists, this beautiful manor house is located in the Burren, Co Clare. Open fire and candlelight add ambiance to the collection of antique art and furniture, and a gentle Georgian colour palette conjures up the cosy intimacy of an Irish country house with the finish of a five-star hotel. Bed and breakfast from €240 per night. gregans.ie

Bullitt Hotel, Belfast

The compact rooms of this city-centre hotel show just how much can be done in a small space, and its interiors are sleek and modern. There are lots of clever ideas for those of us who live in apartments, or just enjoy contemporary design. Rooms from €121. bullitthotel.com

Walden Lakehouse, Co Westmeath

We photographed the beautiful lakeside cabin of interior designer Egon Walesch back in 2016, and the good news is that you can now spend the night in this stylish house. Mid-century finds and contemporary design will give you a whole host of inspiration to take home. It sleeps up to four, and prices start around €996 for a short break. uniquehomestays.com

A real dream for a lover of Irish design, the materials and furniture in Breac House are natural, sustainable and, wherever possible, sourced from the local area and made by Irish craftspeople. From tweed to stonework, everything is of the highest quality. From €245 per room per night. breac.house

The Alex

One of Dublin’s newest places to stay, the Alex has been fitted out with super-stylish interiors from the reception to the bedrooms. Details like light fittings handmade in Copenhagen, Italian leather headboards, furniture made in Cork and wall art designed by Aoife Mullane elevate it beyond your usual hotel offering. Rooms from €197. thealexdublin.ie
