Four New Irish Cookbooks To Feast On This Season

Test your cooking skills this season with these four new Irish cookbooks from some of Ireland’s favourite and most successful cookery authors.

Home Baking by Rachel Allen (HarperCollins, approx €22), out October 5. With her usual simple approach to fresh, delicious treats made from scratch, Allen’s new cookbook is filled with more than 140 recipes for cakes, biscuits, sweet bakes, breads and decadent desserts.

Saturday Pizzas from the Ballymaloe Cookery School by Philip Dennhardt and Kristin Jensen (Ryland Peters & Small, approx €19), out October 10. Dennhardt started Saturday Pizzas as a pop-up at Ballymaloe, which led to a ten-year residence. Here, with the help of food writer Jensen, he shares his top tips.

Half Hour Hero: Real Food, Real Fast by Roz Purcell (Penguin Ireland, €23), out September 28. Purcell’s take on healthy food has won her a legion of fans, and this new cookbook offers more than 100 easy-to-follow whole food recipes you can whip up in 30 minutes. Cook Well, Eat Well by Rory O’Connell (Gill Books, €24.99), out September 22. Ballymaloe Cookery School teacher and brother to Darina Allen, O’Connell is one of Ireland’s modest food heroes. This, his second cookbook, features recipes from his RTE? series and focuses on three-course meals for elegant entertaining.
