Helen Cody exhibition for cancer support impresses with top Irish designers

ABSTRACTED, a fashion photography exhibition featuring the work of some of Ireland’s most extraordinary independent fashion designers opens in Dublin and runs until September 30.

When fashion designer Helen Cody puts her mind to something she does it with style. Take ABSTRACTED, for example. The designer wanted to create a fashion photography exhibition that benefitted a charity that was close to her heart.

Having availed of the services of ARC Cancer Support during her treatment for breast cancer last year, she wanted to give back.

Using her creative talents and her wide network of industry friends, she convinced stylist Paula Hughes and photographer Eilish McCormack to come on board with her idea for something truly special. Together, they created a photographic fashion exhibition that celebrates Irish fashion design.

The prints feature the work of designers including Philip Treacy, Simone Rocha, Richard Malone, Sorcha O’Raghallaigh, Colin Burke, Alison Conneely and Natalie B Coleman, the John Rocha archive, among others.

There will be 13 limited-edition large-scale prints as well as boxed A4 gift sets of all prints for sale at €120 and bundles of 13 cards at €25.

All proceeds go to ARC Cancer Support and they are available to buy until September 30.

Fashion designer John Rocha flew in from London to open the exhibition, while Helen’s husband Rory Murphy added some personal notes to the formalities.

Friends and supporters on the night included Havana boutique owner Nikki Creedon, artist Guggi, comedian Jason Byrne and broadcaster Kathryn Thomas.

ABSTRACTED runs at 51A Dawson Street, Dublin until September 30. Social photography by Lanka Perren.
