The Notebook Television Series Is In The Works

the notebook

Be still all the beating hearts, we’re getting a The Notebook television series. Yes, primetime is getting schmaltzy. Forget all that meandering all-women-have-trauma noir that took hold of the small screen the past few seasons. Noah is going to roar at Allie about writing her everyday for a year once more, and we’re going to love it. True love never dies.

Television network The CW, who have brought us hits such as the 90210 reboot and The Vampire Diaries, are working on a new rendition of the beloved novel and film. The series will reportedly focus on Noah and Allie’s lives after they reconcile in the rain etc. A statement from the network says: ?This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.?

We like this look at social history amid a supposed happy ever after. Also, considering Allie follows her dreams of being an artist we’re sure there will be a lot of woman-working-in-a-patriarchial-society material. Entertainment Weekly reports that the series won’t cover the later stages of the beloved characters? lives. Meaning the tear-jerker that is Allie’s battle with Alzheimer’s.

While Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are unlikely to reprise their roles, author Nicholas Sparks will serve as executive producer. Expect an abundance of dramatic and emotional plots when Sparks is involved – this is the man who dominates the tearjerker and counts A Walk To Remember, The Lucky One and the vastly underrated The Longest Ride among his output.

Who do you think should be cast as Noah and Allie? Who can do the below scene a remote slice of justice?
